The Programme
Posted 2018
-The duration of the swimming programme is two years.
-Swimming is compulsory for all Tops and all J1 classes.
-The classes are divided into three groups; beginner, intermediate & advance.
-Our qualified coaches are listed below.
-Outstanding swimmers are promoted to an advance group at the end of each term.
-Swimmers are asked to tryout for the school team.

Swimming Certificate
A swimming achievement certificate is presented to all swimmers at the end of each year.

Volunteer Training
What is required?
IN-WATER ASSISTANCE
In water volunteers correct technique, body alignment and posture through contact.
ON-DECK ASSISTANCE
1.On deck volunteers instructs the group based on the objectives of the program.
2. You will assist with changing in the bathrooms.

RUSSELL WALTON
Russell is a certified swim coach (Hungary). He currently works as swim coach for the National Sports Council of Barbados Old Scholar of the St. Gabriel's School.
Represented Barbados in Swimming.

Akela is a certified level 1 coach (Coaching Association of Canada)

CHESS TEAM WON BRONZE
Chess: At the Annual Providence Chess Tournament held Monday, March 19th 2018 at Providence Elementary School, St. Gabriel’s had three teams in the tournament which fielded 19 teams from ten schools. Our results are as follows:
Team A, captained by Dominic Marquez (J4L), placed 3rd with 30 points. Other team members were: Devon Ewing-Chow (J4T), Jared Kong (J4L); Jack Hutton (J2C), Christopher Smith (J3G) and Alec Welch (J2B).
Team B placed 6th with 26 points. Team members were: Jaydon Alleyne (J3G), Elliot Anselme-Peretz, (J2C); Kehnan Dahoma (J3G), Sayid Hinds (J2B), Daniel Prestwich (J4L) and Luc Valere Sobrian (J2C).
Team C led by Johnann Foster (J2C), placed 13th with 22 points. Team members included Adriel Bayrd (J3G), Kahlan Croney (J3D), Drew Ewing-Chow (J3G), Hamilton Yarbrough (J1R) and Walton Yarbrough (J2B).
Congratulations and thank you to all the students who participated in the Tournament.

Cross Country 2018 – Tuesday, February 27th A terrific effort and well done to all of the children who made it past the finish line in this year’s annual Cross Country event. Thankfully the weather co-operated and a good morning was had by all. The results and points listed below are inclusive of participation points for each team.

The St. Gabriel’s School sent a small contingent of 24 athletes to the NAPSAC competition on Monday 19th February 2018. We have four of our athletes placing in the top eight of seven events with hopes of doing well in the quarter finals. All the athletes did their best on the day and improving their general performance. Congratulations to all who represented the school. Thank you to the parents who came and supported the team.

The Pine Hill National Association of Primary Schools’ Athletics Championship (NAPSAC) – Finals Report St. Gabriel’s had two athletes in the Finals of the 2018 Pine Hill National Association of Primary Athletics Championship (NAPSAC).
• Jules O’Garro (J3D) once again made it to the NAPSAC finals! He competed in two events - the Under 11 Cricket Ball Throw and Long Jump, and placed where he placed 1st in both events.
• Tytan Hinkson (J4T) also made it to the Finals, competing in the 800 m Under 13. Tytan placed 2nd - winning the Silver medal.
